In case you didn’t know this, the oak tree is the national tree of America. Chosen for it’s diversity (more than sixty species are spread from coast to coast), it’s America’s most diverse hardwood. Oak trees have long been a symbol of strength. The breadth and weight of it’s trunk and twisting branches providing some of our highest quality lumber. This particular tree, a massive oak, alone on it’s hill, has long been a familiar landmark in the back-country where That Herd roams. It’s shade and protection have been a favorite stopping site for the horses. It stands, a colossal figure, honoring the passing of time, so much time.
