Preservation

Animals that live in a wild environment think a lot. They also know a lot. Every minute of every day and night requires their full attention. New mothers remain especially wary and protective. This mare’s foal is about a day old and even though I am a reoccurring visitor, I am suspect to the safety of the newborn. Vigilance is required, even toward familiar faces. A mother’s instinct demands it.
