I call him Gem, because he reminds me of an uncut gem. He’s rough and clunky looking but his brilliant sparkle shines through. He’s ugly-cute and irresistible.

Every year I post about horses eating thistle as a first choice when spring grass is abundant. I am constantly amazed they eat these spiked, tough, nettle-haired plants. This is Ruby scoring blooms.
